Want some ideas of what your walk could look like?
We've got a few suggestions- or you can create your own!
A 2.5km or 5km walk
Join friends, family, and neighbours, or walk solo in peaceful reflection, for a 2.5km or 5km tribute to someone you love. Whether you walk through your favourite park, along the seafront or around your local streets you can honour your loved one whilst helping Asthma + Lung UK fund vital research.
A night time lantern walk
Under the glow of the evening sky, walk with others or in peaceful solitude on a journey of remembrance for someone you love. Walk by the gentle light of lanterns and as the lights shine along the route, each light represents a life remembered and a step towards a future where everyone can breathe easier.
A symbolic distance
Choose a distance that reflects on your personal experience or that means something to your loved one.
Some examples could be:
• 1 mile for every year of your loved one’s life
• 3 miles , “a mile for the past, present, and future”
• 1 mile every day for a week, “keeping their memory alive each day"
• 12 miles, representing the 12 million people in the UK living with a lung condition

After experiencing devastating loss, losing his wife, mother, and brother to mesothelioma, 79-year-old Ray started fundraising for Asthma + Lung UK. He's been walking and cycling for over 5 years, setting himself various challenges each year.
He will be doing his last physical challenge for mesothelioma research in 2025 when he reaches his 80th birthday. He hopes to average 8 miles a day walking a total of 250 miles and peddling 550 miles on his exercise bike.
