Collaborating with people living with lung conditions ensures research is meaningful, impactful, and patient-focused

Asthma + Lung UK's Respiratory Insights service provides unique opportunities for people with lived experience of a lung condition to contribute to research.

Involving patients in your project has several benefits:

  • Addressing real-world challenges and concerns: by talking with with specific respiratory pathologies it’s possible to understand their primary needs and daily difficulties. By using this approach practical priorities are identifiable and faceable, tailoring solutions and improving life quality.
  • Enhancing communication to increase public accessibility: to tailor language and messaging to resonate with audiences, ensuring broader outreach and engagement, particularly among underrepresented communities. This approach fosters inclusivity and encourages active collaboration across a vast range of perspectives.
  • Aiding in the dissemination of results: people can help with access to different community networks, both virtual and local, social media platforms, or local organisations.

This approach has the potential to enhance the rigour and relevance of respiratory research.
