We’re loving seeing how you’re spending your summers!

Our summer competition is a chance for you to show us how you enjoy the season with your lung condition – and win prizes! We love seeing what you get up to, Here are some of some of the lovely entries we’ve had so far.

Julian’s party in the park

This shows my wife Gail and myself enjoying a rare day out at Radio Two's Party in the Park from the disabled viewing platform. As I am on oxygen most of the time it’s hard finding places to go that are accessible. this party was extremely well managed for the less mobile of us with easy access a steady supply of water and toilets within a very short walk. In previous years I would have ventured abroad but now due to oxygen restricting my choices it’s nice to get out once in a while.

Casey’s veg patch

In this picture I am doing some gardening and planting our tomatoes! I live with multiple chronic lung conditions which affect my energy levels and I've found gardening is a fantastic way to get out in nature, do some gentle exercise for my lungs and relax in beautiful calm surroundings. With the added benefit of getting lovely fresh fruit and vegetables in the future!

Melanie’s dashing show

Here I am In Sussex at a dressage show with my horse Dash. I only developed chronic asthma a few years ago after a severe chest infection. I was really worried at the beginning that I would have to give up doing what I love - horse riding and just spending time with her. Now I’ve learnt to manage it, it means my summer can look like this again.

Emma in her happy place

In our favourite place, the Lake District with my son. I’m particularly pleased to be in the fells this year as I'm asthmatic and I had pneumonia at the start of the year - I struggled to walk a mile The fells are my happy place -  fresh air, exercise, gorgeous views and peace.

Geraldine’s work of art

I'd just spent a lovely, restorative weekend painting fun pictures with a wonderful group of people. I love painting outside in summer and making new friends to paint with. This is my summer joy.

Louise’s island-hopping adventure

This June I took part and completed the Scilly 60 - 60k on five inhabited islands in the Isles of Scilly all in one day. Tight cut offs and some pretty technical terrain in that it was rarely flat and runnable. There was a lot of ups and downs, narrow paths, running on sand and avoiding rocks. It was an incredible experience and one possible with asthma and my medication.

Maria is making wonderful memories

I'm on holiday in Palermo, in the south of Italy, enjoying the beautiful scenery and warm summer sunshine. Living with asthma means that sudden changes in the weather can trigger my symptoms, so I have to be mindful and pace myself. Thanks to my inhalers and careful planning, I'm still able to travel and enjoy new experiences. This photo shows what summer looks like with a lung condition—making wonderful memories, embracing every opportunity, and not letting asthma stop me from exploring the world.
