I'm walking from The Shire to Mordor to manage and improve my asthma

Wilf, 10, has asthma and is aiming to complete a 1,779 mile walk in support of Asthma + Lung UK. We spoke to Wilf and his mum, Kate, about his epic challenge.

My inspiration to do the challenge was Lord of the Rings as it’s one of my favourite movies.

One of the reasons I wanted to do the walk, was to prove and show people with asthma that they can safely do physical activity.

I always make sure that I carry my reliever inhaler with me and take breaks when I’m feeling tired. So far I’ve walked over 510 miles and raised £1,380 so far with the incredible support of family, friends and fans of Lord of the Rings.”

He’s helping to break down stereotypes

His mum Kate said: “I’m so proud of Wilf, especially as exercise is one of his asthma triggers, so physical activity makes him anxious. He has found that taking daily walks has really helped manage his asthma. He’s helping to break down stereotypes through his determination.”
