Nathan, 23, from Jersey is studying a PhD at the University of Southampton looking at breathlessness in asthma. This year he’s running the London Marathon to raise money for Asthma + Lung UK. Here he tells us about his research and why funding lung health research is so important.

Susan, 52, from Manchester, was diagnosed with asthma in 2022 and bronchiectasis the following year. She has had to attend A&E twice due to asthma attacks, and even with daily medication she has a persistent cough and can become breathless.

We know our mobiles can help us identify music, but can they help identify lung conditions? We partnered with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to launch a funding call to find out. Read about some of the exciting projects that came out of it.
