Why I ran the London Marathon
In March 2022, my husband Gwynn, became quite poorly. He was struggling to breathe, mainly through exertion. He ended up in hospital where he spent 10 days. As time has gone on, he’s deteriorated. The scarring has become worse, quite considerably. We’re now on the waiting list for a lung transplant.
You know people take breathing for granted every single day, including myself. And yet I see him struggling.
That’s why I decided to run the London Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK. I’ve been able to raise over £13,000 to help other people like Gwynn who struggling to breathe.
As long as you put the training in, it is worth it. Especially if you're running for a charity as amazing as this one. It's all worth it. 100%.

My name is Laurey and I'm from Blackpool.
I'm running the London Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK.
In March 2022 my husband became quite poorly.
He was struggling to breathe mainly through exertion and he ended up in hospital where he stayed for about 10 days while they did various tests and procedures.
As time has gone on, he's deteriorated.
The scarring has become worse, quite considerably, and we're now in the process of waiting for an assessment to see if he's eligible for a lung transplant.
Because I'm so busy looking after Gwynn, being at work, trying to make time for my boy. It is hard but I've got so much support.
I feel really proud of her. In fact I can't believe she's doing it.
She's always run and she's always been sporty but when she said she was going to do the marathon I was quite surprised but she's very determined.
You know people take breathing for granted every single day, including myself and yet I see him...
He was diagnosed at 44, he's nearly 47 next week.
I absolutely adore him and it's been a very difficult couple of years.
If what Laurey is doing is raising, you know, she's raised a good amount of money and that's thanks to everybody who sponsored her.
I've got a big party of supporters that are going to be there for me and obviously Gwynn will be tracking me from home.
Liverpool are on at the same time but he has been warned.
I even said to Laurey, if she was stuck I would walk it with her, I couldn't run it but I would walk it and then she said 'But you can't join me, you'd have to walk through the crowds' but I would, I would do anything to help her.
As long as you put the training in, you know, it is worth it and especially if you're running for a charity as amazing as this one that I'm running for it it's all worth it. 100%.
