Respiratory Voices Network

Be part of ground breaking research and innovation to help everyone affected by lung conditions.

What's involved?

Your experience of a lung condition as a patient or carer means you can drive research progress forward.

You’ll receive a monthly newsletter of research project based opportunities to get involved with:

  • Be part of a research project steering group, helping to shape the direction and design of research
  • Develop and provide feedback on research project protocols and materials
  • Be part of forming a representative research panel, helping to review project progress and keep it on track
  • Take part in research projects yourself though questionnaires, surveys, and focus groups

Your voice can influence beyond the research itself too, helping to persuade those involved in research development and funding that more needs to be done to support respiratory research.

Is the Respiratory Voices Network right for me?

For most people, being part of research is about wanting to make a difference to the future of respiratory and lung care. At Asthma + Lung UK, we work with researchers to listen to people affected by lung conditions to understand their views and needs and this informs everything we do. Together, we can fight for a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

What does it involve?

The Respiratory Voices Network (RVN) newsletter is distributed monthly, and includes various opportunities to support researchers in the design and development of their project or product. We may also include opportunities that wish to recruit individuals to take part in research, these will usually be offering your opinions and/or experiences living with a lung condition via a survey or an informal chat.

Will my information be shared with 3rd parties?

We won't share your information with anyone else. Read more in our privacy policy. When you chose to take part in an opportunity you'll be taken to a university or research institute website to share your experience and what you share, will be up to you. Will I be reimbursed for my time?

Some opportunities are paid and some provided honoraria (thank you payment). We will always do our best to inform you before you take part.

What if I change my mind?

All participation is voluntary, and at your discretion. If you wish to withdraw from an opportunity, you should contact the individual you got in touch with to request to withdraw. If you are unable to find the contact details again, get in touch with us and we will help you contact the right person.
